iPhone 5 And iPad 2 To Get Dual-Core SGX543 GPU

AppleInsider is reporting that according to their source, the next generation iPad and iPhone will get a new version of Apple’s A4 chip, which uses the dual-core SGX535 GPU from Imagination Technologies.
According to AppleInsider, the new version of the A4 chip will enable Apple to bring Retina-like Display to iPad 2 and could also bring 1080p HD support to iOS Devices.AppleInsider reports:
A source familiar with Apple's graphics strategy says the company will not only be upgrading its video core, but also going to multiple cores, a feature that is designed into the SGX543 design. The most likely configuration of Apple's next custom chip is reportedly the SGX543MP2, which pairs two SGX543 cores to work as one, offering around four times the capability of the previous A4 in graphics and video tasks.
We won’t be surprised if Apple uses SGX543MP2 in the next generation iPhone and iPad. We’ve already found references in iOS 4.3 beta that had indicated that Apple is planning to use the more powerful SGX543 GPU in future iOS devices. Hopefully, the additional power will make iPad 2’s 2048x1536 screen resolution a reality.
We have also heard rumors that Apple may use a Cortex A9-based multicore processor (to be dubbed the Apple A5) in iPhone 5 instead of the current Apple A4 processor, which is a single-core Cortex A8 processor.
We can’t wait to see tech specs of the next generation iPad and iPhone? What about you?
