Apple To Launch iPad 2, Cloud-based MobileMe Tomorrow; iPad 3 Later This Year?

Cult of Mac reports that in addition to iPad 2, Apple will also debut its long rumored cloud-based MobileMe service, which will allow users to upload their music, TV shows and movies to Apple’s servers so that they can access them from various devices.Cult of Mac reports:
The Apple staffer, who asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, said the new MobileMe service will store music, TV shows, and films that were purchased from the iTunes store. The staffer also said that there was talk inside Apple of being able to upload all your music and videos to the cloud whether it was purchased from iTunes or not. However, they couldn’t confirm whether this will be rolled out or not.
It has been widely speculated that Apple will launch a cloud-based iTunes service after it acquired Lala – Online music store that allowed users to legally create playlists of their own uploaded music, which could play full length songs for other registered Lala members, among other things.
Cult of Mac’s source has also told them that iPad 2 will be ‘more of a speed bump than a redesign’ and a completely redesigned version will be released later this year.
The Apple staffer declined to give details about the iPad 2 or 3, but said: "For the iPad 2 don't get your hopes up too high. That's all I'm going to say. They've had a number of problems along the way, and the third-generation iPad is the one to make a song and a dance about."
This is not the first time, we’ve heard about Apple’s plan to launch iPad 3 later this year. John Gruber of Daring Fireball who has a good track record when it comes to Apple rumors, had speculated that Apple is planning to launch the 3rd iPad in September. iLounge had also reported that Apple will release iPad 1.5 (more of a speed bump) tomorrow and iPad 2 (redesigned) later this year.
It also looks like Apple’s CEO, Steve Jobs who is currently on a medical leave of absence is definitely considering making an appearance at the event, which is great news:
According to several sources close to the situation, Apple CEO Steve Jobs - who is on a health-related leave from the company - is definitely considering an appearance at its big iPad 2 event tomorrow.
But the possibility - which would be a big sensation at the San Francisco gathering - is also just as definitely not confirmed as yet, stressed sources.
If he did appear, sources said Jobs would at least make a brief appearance onstage, along with other top company execs in showing off Apple's latest version of it hugely popular tablet.
Though we don’t like the possibility of a new version of iPad coming out later this year, we’re quite excited to find out the new features and improvements in iPad 2.
What about you? Are you planning to buy or upgrade to iPad 2 or will you now wait for iPad 3? Let us know in the comments below.
